Well, our 3 week trip has come to an end. We’re happy to be home. Everyone is happy to see us too, because we brought some warm weather and sunshine with us. It was 60 today! The snow that hit the night before we left is still here, but melting quickly. We celebrated birthdays with 2 friends and we’re getting ready to celebrate Bob’s 30th in a few weeks. Bella is getting used to us again and we’re trying to re-train her after she got spoiled at “Grandma & Grandpa’s” house.

We’re getting caught up on all the stuff we left behind for 3 weeks. I got 2 magazines in the mail while I was gone and they deserve way more of my time than I just gave them. Can’t wait to do that. And you! I feel like I’ve been a bit absent, but I’m back in full swing now and I can’t wait to get caught up on your blogs and comments and lives.

Here we go. Back into the swing of things. Hello Monday!

This Is A Story About Me, Not My Dog

01.31.2011 by Linda Lotich //

As you know, Bob and I flew south for the winter. We decided it would be better to leave Bella, our dog, with Bob’s parents because it’d be too hard and stressful to travel with her. But we decided this a few weeks before I really got attached to her. I’ve liked her this whole time, but all of a sudden she just made me love her.

I don’t know if it’s like this for anyone else when they get a dog. It’s like they drive you nuts and then you can’t stand to be away from them. I’ve heard it’s like this when you have kids too.

Well, my mother-in-law, being the wonderful woman she is has been sending me pictures along with “letters” from Bella. Before I had a dog, I always thought that was hilarious and a bit ridiculous. But now, I LOVE them! Ha ha! I can’t believe I actually am looking forward to getting another text from Bella. Ha ha!

And I realized I’ve become “that girl.” You know, the one who talks about her dog all the time and tells stories of what her dog does because it really is cute but no one else really wants to hear about it. The girl who looks at a bird and it reminds her of her dog (yep, Linds, I did it on this trip!).

I’m trying my best to hide it because I know how annoying it is for everyone else, but I can’t. I love my dog and I miss her!

Hope you’ll still like me. At least I am not forcing you to let my dog lick you on the mouth. I haven’t gone that far…yet.

Sharing Food With A Man

01.29.2011 by Linda Lotich //

Today Bob and I went out to eat. We never do this, but we both ordered the same thing. Normally, we’ll each order something that the other would like too and we share. (Don’t we sound like an old married couple!) But today, Bob got sick of me ordering the best thing on the menu (the fish sandwich) while he ordered a salad. Boring. So we each got our fish sandwich.

Now I always have this theory that he eats all his food and then eats all mine, not because he’s trying to starve me, but because he thinks we’re getting the same portion because we’re eating it at the same time. However, he eats like  one of those dogs that’s possessive of his food. He eats a banana in 3 bites. If I offer him a bite of my mom’s delicious chocolate chip cookies, he takes two thirds of it and laughs when I get mad.

Well, his meal was gone (fries and all) before I even finished the first half of mine. The rest of the time I ate he stared at me/my food with bug eyes just waiting for me to put it down and look away and he’d grab it like an angry vulture that hadn’t eaten in days.(You’d think the boy never eats!) I proceeded to tell him that I wanted all of it and he was in denial. “Yeah, put some sauce on that, I’m gonna want sauce.”

I ate it all and he told me I was a douche bag. Guess that’s what I get for training him that I like to share with him.
