Well, I know I’ve been away for a while and I’m back with an update. This is what I’ve been doing the past year…
We adopted a baby boy! Woohoo! Today things were made official and we couldn’t be happier. He was born at the end of January and, as you can imagine, I’ve had my hands full. Here are a few photos from our past 9 months with Alden.
Kristi Pinkham has been my partner in crime during this whole Fashion Week craziness and boy have we had fun. Kristi has this knack of making everything special. I mean, last week she wore a gold vintage Halston skirt. Okay? I have yet to find it’s equal. She doesn’t save special things for special occasions. She just goes for it. And I love this about her. Her pinterest account is equally reflective. You must see it.
Here are just a few of our photos.

Hey! I’ve been MIA the past few weeks because other things in life have had to take priority (we can talk about that later). But today I wanted to talk to you about St. Louis Fashion Week, which I’m thrilled to be part of. I’ve taken plenty of blurry photos and will try not to just share those with you. But if you want more information, go to the St. Louis Fashion Week website.
I’ve really been impressed with the organization and excitement of it all. St. Louis is not New York, so things aren’t nearly as intense, which makes me happy. And I have to give props to Alive Magazine which has made all of this possible. They’ve built up the fashion and blogger community and are really making huge strides in our little midwestern city.
The show I got to go to took place in our mall and showed off looks that are on sale in the stores now!
And this was the only good shot I got of my outfit all night. But for more, see my Instagram.
Y’all know I sell Stella and Dot, right? Well, I had some family over on Monday and we couldn’t help but play a little dress up. And it was so fun that I had to share it with you! Ha! Sometimes, dress up with your Mom and sisters makes the the best party. I guess that’s why I wanted to sell it in the first place. I’m thinking of arriving at my parties looking like this and just spreading the jewelry around so people know they can try it on. Ha! What do you think? I’ve got a party tonight! Woohoo!
A few months ago, I read a book called Paris Street Style: A Guide To Effortless Chic. And IT WAS SO GOOD! I’ve got it around and I pick it up almost daily to read a little tid-bit from it to inspire me. What I got out of it was this: Do your own thing and enjoy yourself while doing it. Isn’t that refreshing? Then, the other day, I was reading The Neo-Traditionalist (a favorite of mine) I was pointed to an article about the French, which took a whole lot of pressure off me. It basically talked about how ageing is a beautiful process and to embrace it instead of fight it. I don’t know about you, but in our current culture, youth = beauty and that is a difficult thing to live up to because WE ALL GET OLD! And that’s ok. I’m just learning how to deal with the fact that children I used to baby sit are grown ups now. So weird. But now I realize that where I am in life is not only perfectly normal and OK, but it has so many of it’s own advantages! And in 10, 25, 50 years I should feel the same way.
Anyway, all that to say, I’m intrigued by the French culture and how they view style and beauty and I want to pull more of that into my life instead of working so hard to keep up with the Joneses. So when I went out with friends the other night (we were at this cool restaurant/bar on the top of a building overlooking Busch Stadium!), I decided to wear my husband’s t-shirt. I felt like it and I know almost no one else there would be doing it. It felt good. I’m not sure I felt completely amazing in it, but I felt proud of myself for doing something different and for seeing my wardrobe a little different. Next up, his jeans. Ha! I’ll let you know how that one goes.

A few weekends ago, we went to Chicago with my sister and her husband. We had so much fun and I realized one of my loves of life is sitting outside at a cafe having breakfast and drinking coffee. It’s my happy place. I think what makes it so special is that it rarely happens. But when it does, this is what I look like…
