I’m in my basement, we’re in the middle of finishing it! This weekend, it gets painted. (Oh, speaking of which, our friend is helping us paint and he’s amazing. We had another painter come over and he was looking for a mistake and couldn’t find it, so if you’re in the St. Louis area and need a painter, let me know!) But don’t let this screw gun fool you. I’ve done almost nothing down there. Although I did get up at 6:30 in the morning to help Bob unload 50 sheets of drywall (in 2 packs)!

I totally got talked into this shirt by Jill. All she had to do is post a picture of it on twitter and I ran out and bought it. I almost bought a gray one and a blue one about a year ago, but honestly, the blue one was way too trendy and worn by every other blogger around. Even though I copied off Jill, at least I felt like she was the only other one with this shirt.

Oh how I rationalize things.

I am not sure you can buy it online anymore, so you’ll have to get it in this color in the store. Oh, and just in case you’re wondering what else Jill mentioned that I’ll be buying soon, it’s this. Have to have it! Also bought these because of her. Love them!

What are you doing this weekend?

I’m A Mess

Saturday I got to catch up with a friend (Deb) at a baby shower. At the end of the prayer over the food, her phone rang. Of course she was so embarrassed, and we just started talking about how we feel like we’re so messy. Her phone rings during the prayer, I’m sweating like a crazy person and have a zit on my cheek (how did it get there?), and both of us had lost our clothes pins because we had both said the word “cute.” And of course my little sister has her clothes pins and more! (She’s kind of perfect.)

So, next day, Sunday morning just wasn’t working for me. I woke up on my stupid period, I was cold, but it was hot outside, uncomfortable, zits all over my face, bloated, my legs and feet hurt from wearing heels all week, and I just wanted to wear sweatpants and watch a movie, but it was time to go to church. Usually I feel like I have to try to be perfect, but for some reason I just let it all go and just went with it. I wore jean shorts and a sweatshirt to church (not pictured)!  And you know what? It felt good!

Now, I know this is kind of ridiculous, and I don’t ever dress so casual to church, but I will say that I’m so glad that I go to a church where it’s more important to just show up and get what you need than it is to make sure you arrive perfect. I mean the whole reason I go to church in the first place is because I am a mess! It was just a healthy reminder that God doesn’t mind a mess. In fact, he prefers it. Cause then he can work with it.

Don’t worry, I won’t turn this into a sermon. I just realized that I need to cut myself some more slack. I am always trying to be the girl who wins all the clothes pins, and dresses perfectly in every situation, and says the right things, and all that stuff…but it doesn’t work out for me. I always end up putting my foot in my mouth, or being waaaaay under dressed, or the one talking in the group picture. And I just have to remember that it’s OK. No one has it all together (except my sister, Ha ha!) and once in a while, everyone walks around with their fly open. It’s not that big of a deal. And it’s not what happens to you, it’s how you deal with it.

It’s Thursday

08.11.2011 by Linda Lotich //

Laughing Hysterically

It’s Thursday and I know I normally do Thursday Latelies, but this week hasn’t allowed much time for work. Yesterday I got a comment that my “crazy week” included all wonderfully fun things that I get to do. That is true. I have no reason to complain at all…and I’m not! I’m simply stating the fact that things are busy this week. My house is a mess (please don’t come over unannounced unless you’re ready to handle it) and I’m fighting to make time for you guys (and you can forget about email). Even this post is going up late!

So since I can’t do a video, I thought I’d just share photos from yesterday and tell you some of the wonderful things about this week. I can say (without exaggeration) I’ve loved almost every single minute. Now that’s a statement!

I’d also like to say that I’ve been really into wearing heels this week. I go back and forth, but this week is HEELS week! I’ll see how long I can last in them today. I brought a pair of flats in case my feet give out on me.

I’m thankful for:

  1. Getting to go out for breakfast TWO days in a row!
  2. A day date with my hubby (because we can!)
  3. Wonderful time with friends
  4. Babysitting for little cuties
  5. Shopping!
  6. YOU!
xoxo,
Linda

PS: Like that last photo? Wanna know what’s so funny? The cup was empty. 🙂
