What Do You Wear To A May Wedding?

May 10, 2011

All Photos taken at the wedding of Kristi Pinkham. See more of her amazing style and how you can hire her for your wedding, home decor, or personal styling by visiting her site and blog!

Wanna know what to wear to a May wedding? Well, here are some examples. :) This is the wedding I attended over the weekend. The weather was beautiful and perfect. The ceremony was extremely moving. Everything was picture perfect. Got some fun photos with friends and lots of me and Bob.

I went with a very springy dress (c/o Shop Ruche) and so did my friend Gertrude (the red-head). My little sis was in the wedding and they got their dresses from Anthropologie. All the shoes were plain and got embellished (and made WAY better) by KM2 Shoes.

Warning: There are a lot of pictures. I hope you enjoy them all. (They were mostly taken by Gertrude who by the way, has a blog now!)

They actually tied a knot. They tied a fisherman’s knot and it’s the strongest knot. The rope will break before the knot comes undone and the knot only gets tighter with pressure. (Made me cry!)

The programs were printed on paper bags holding these guys” target=”_blank”>these guys (see below):

This is how they entered into the reception!

They had pie instead of cake. Check out the pie topper!

This is me and my little sis Jamey. Isn’t she beautiful!

it was a great wedding. wish everyone could have seen all of the little details that were there like the girls initials on the bottom of their shoes. And of course the Bride had her new last name on her shoes. So many other things to point out too!

This is so funny! I Googled what to wear to a May wedding and your site came up and this was my cousin Trevor’s wedding! I wasn’t there – my parents had to represent my family. (This is Rebecca (Pinkham) Polatsek. Scott is my Mom’s brother – I’m not just a creeper :)

Thanks for the idea of what to wear!

Love the pics and all of the unique ideas you had!  Is there anyway you can direct me to where I could find readings for the tying of the knot?  My fiance and I are doing this also but I can’t seem to find a reading for the officiant to read.

  • http://rosealamode.com Linda Rose

Actually, this was not my wedding. It was a friends. I’ll contact her to see if she’s got any other info and see if she’d be interested in emailing with you.

This is what my friend told me:
we just researched the knot and made bullet points about it. You can tell her it’s called a “double-fisherman’s knot” and if she just googles facts about that knot I’m sure she will come up with the right things to say about it. Basically it gets stronger the more pressure that is applied to it, and I think it’s the strongest knot that exists. And you can tell her we got rope cut for it at REI.
    Hope it helps!

Thanks for sharing!!! Where did she get the hankies?

  • http://rosealamode.com Linda Rose

i believe they were all thrifted! she did that with most of the decorations and made a lot of them too. that’s why it was so unique and personalized. it really was such an amazing wedding to attend.

Recently I was really, really low on money and debts were eating me from all sides! That was UNTIL I decided to make money on the internet! I went to surveymoneymaker dot net, and started filling in surveys for cash, and surely I’ve been far more able to pay my bills! I’m so glad, I did this.. With all the financial stress these years, I really hope all of you will give it a chance. – k2j7
