I Want A Pixie Cut

June 8, 2012

So, I have decided that I want a pixie cut. This has been something I’ve been thinking about since we were in Florida in February, and between b.a. (see her’s on twitter) and Katie, I have just about had it. I am really not afraid to cut it. What I’m afraid of is that it won’t look good. :) Or at least that I won’t like it. What “looks good” is all a matter of opinion, and right now, mine is the only one that counts. Ha!

Even as I type this, I’m a little afraid of what I might do. So, what do you think?

I Want A Pixie Cut

I’ve been thinnking for a while that you would look great in a cute short Carey Mulligan, Mia Farrow type cute.  I think you have the perfect face for it!

  • Pam

I love Carey Mulligan’s cut. Short but not too short, you know? She is just cute as a button. You could always do something like that and if you wanted to go shorter you could (as opposed to going short from the start and not really liking it).

  • Sara

I love it, and think you should do it!! I got my hair cut like Sienna Millers and loved it, but am since growing it out because the boy didn’t care for it much. I’d totally do it again, and maybe even shorter if I was brave enough!!

I think the Carey Mulligan cut would look so cute on you. You even kind of look like her. I just recently went shorter too…..I picked the Chelsea Kane, angled layered bob.. http://pinterest.com/pin/31666003599431687/

I love, love, love the pixie cut look but the two times I did cut it, I hated it. While it looks great in photos, I have pretty fine hair and it didn’t take as well. I had to use a lot of product. I’m not trying to be a debbie downer, I’m trying to give a different perspective. I just chopped off 12″ of my hair, so it currently reached my chin and I’m in love w/ it and I also want to go shorter, but I ignore the urges. Does your hair grow fast? If it does, try it out. I mean you are already as cute as a button, it probably look cute on you.

Do it!!! I had one in high school and LOVED it! Takes only a few minutes to get ready in the mornings too :)

I love the Sienna Miller cut for you! You shoudl totally go for it!

thanks for being on my side. :)

yeah, i’m a little concerned about the boy, but he is being supportive, so i may just do it and then find out what he really thinks. :)

thanks! i appreciate the other side of it. i have those fears, that it just won’t work with my hair, but i also wonder if i can make it work this time. you know? like, sometimes you just don’t know how to style it, and then, a few years later, you do! i’m wondering if this is one of those times.

Do it! It would look cute on you. I am actually going through chemo right now so I cut my long hair in a pixie before it started to fall out. I loved it! I would have never been brave enough to do it otherwise. Now I have no hair but looking forward to growing it into a pixie soon. Check out Ashlee Simpson’s pixie too for more inspiration.  Have a great weekend!

  • KatieN

I say go for it! I did it last year on a whim and it was strangely liberating, hair doesn’t take that long to grow out so even if it doesn’t turn out how you thought, it’s not permanent! So go for it, don’t over-think it, be brave!

  • Fenerodine

You could totally pull off a pixie cut! I think it would emphasize your eyes and face shape really well. Go as short as you dare, maybe do it just before a vacation so you feel more free anyway. Plenty of time to get used to it and play with it!

  • Anita Dukart

Oh my gosh you should! That would look great on you! I’m especially fond of the two on the left :)

I had mine cut in a pixie for a while and loved it… it’s SO low maintenance. Now my hair is super long and sometimes I miss just getting out of the shower and going!!

I’m a fairly new (regular) reader to your blog and learned about you through Kelsey W. at Snappy Casual. I relate to your style, and though I’m more reader and less commenter, I felt compelled here because I’ve twice jumped into the pixie cut deep end and loved it. It’s so easy to manage and, believe it or not, has several opportunities for styling. A pixie seems to work well on petite faces, so you’re set there. I did end up growing it out over the winter because I like to wear hats, and I found my bob worked better for that kind of thing (and I change hairstyles rapidly), but I would totally go back. And it helps to take it in stages, which you’ve done I see, so I say jump! (Full disclosure: I do have thick, quickly growing hair)

  • Beth

Definitely do it! I have my hair in a cut like Michelle Williams right now and I love it. My hair is fine but thick and as long as the cut itself is good, your hair texture and type should not affect it too much. I can use product in it if I want to change the look up a bit but mostly I let it air dry or blow dry for about 2 minutes (literally!) if in a hurry. My hair grows fairly fast so I get it trimmed about once every 5 weeks. I can also still use baby barrettes in it and I wear little headbands too. Even with short hair you still have quite a few styling and texturizing options. And even if you do it and decide it’s not for you, it will grow back! :)

Oh man! I’ll be praying for you as you go through chemo. I pray you have amazing strength, recover extremely fast, and get rid of that junk forever!
But thanks for the tips too! I’ll go check out Ashley now!

  • http://rosealamode.com Linda Rose

Yes! I’ve done it before, and though I didn’t love the cut, I felt so liberated. I really think this is going to happen. :)

  • http://rosealamode.com Linda Rose

Yeah, the timing of it seems like it will be crucial. This week would be bad for that, but I want it so bad that I’m not sure I can wait! Eeeeek!

  • http://rosealamode.com Linda Rose

Ugh! Love that! I need a lower maintenance hair cut. I love the Carey Mulligan one, but the Michelle Williams one is really appealing to me because it would be sooooo easy!

  • http://rosealamode.com Linda Rose

Yeah, the hat thing is something to consider for sure. But I don’t think it’s enough to stop me. My BFF did get me a pair of faux fur ear muffs last year for Christmas. Ha ha!
But I have had my hair cut short before and did love it. I am pretty sure this is gonna happen soon. :)

  • http://rosealamode.com Linda Rose

So True. Thanks for you wisdom. I can’t wait!!!!!

  • Inspiredgert

DO IT ALREADY!  i say start shorter & it can grow into that longer bangs one (so start with that top left shot & go from there).  haha the bottom left is kind of what you’ve already got going on, so it’s too long. ;)

  • Lauren

I cut all my hair off a year ago and I absolutely love it! I was in the same boat as you where it wouldnt grow past my shoulders, then I did a bob like you currently have then went for the pixie! You would look so cute with it, I really think you should! Victoria Bekham has great hair too!!
