about me

August 19, 2010

Hey there! Thanks for visiting! My name is Linda and this is my site. It’s a fashion/style blog that is for all the girls who want to look their best everyday. I don’t lead a particularly glamorous life, but that doesn’t mean I want to wear sweats everyday. I don’t consider myself an expert in the field of fashion. But I do consider myself an expert in enjoying it. I started this site because I was getting so inspired by other sites I had seen (many of them are in the sidebar on the left) and wanted to get in on the fun. But it’s taken me a long time to get here.

Growing up, I always loved buying clothes and using clothes to suit my mood. But it wasn’t until I got married (in 2005) that I started to find my own identity with clothes. My mom had always dressed me and I just sort of followed her rules for the most part. After I got married, I realized that I wanted to make a new set of rules for myself. So, I asked a few friends, who have amazing style, to take me shopping. And it started there.

I am still transforming and feeling more like myself everyday. This blog is because I want to do the best with what I’ve got and only continue to get better in all aspects.  I know I have so much more to learn and I’m excited to learn from everyone who chooses to participate in this site with me.

I live in the mid-west (St. Louis) with my husband Bob and one doggie, Bella. Bob and I are self-employed and get to work from home! He’s the best husband a girl could ask for!

Here are a couple of my favorite posts:

You and your husband are adorable together!

After I met my boyfriend (of 5 years) I definitely started to develop my sense of style, partially because he loves to see me dress up. But I think it’s also that I got a bit older and started to realise who I was.

    Dear Linda,
I had a friend turn me on to this site – she is te lowdown on fashion blogs. I married the love of my life in feb 2006 (5 years next month) and that started a clothing journey that still contines. first, when I met my husband, i was in the throes of an eating disorder due to malnutrition based on a gastric bypass in Aug 2004. He insisted I dressed like a nun (which is odd because I am not Catholic, did not wear a habit or suplice and think makeup and good hair are a must). His point was that I spent a great deal of time in black and grey. Frankly, they are still my go to colors for full confidence. However, I love David so much I was willing to try blues, pinks, reds, mulberries, merlots, even greens. What a wonder color is. If I buy anthing new it comes from consignment stores where people have brought clothes with the tags on them. I have recently discovered the hospital thrift store – scoring a Marie Gray fro St John Houndstooth jacket for 9.99 and a pair of gray Sigrid Olsen 3 season pants for .75 cents. Yes, you are reading that right. I am a curvey 4’11” and have a fantastic seamstress who is reasonable and understands fit. Shout out to Sue! In the last three months david and I bought our first house and the editing of the wardrobe has begun. I take inspiration from your rockin’ clothes combos and want to let you know if you come through Bloomington IL (halfway between the St. Louis and Chicago-land area) I would like to treat you to lunch and a whirlwind tour of our excellent goodwill store (it is on the ritzy part of town) a tromp through the Thrift store and an amazing time throught gucci,Manolos and Kay Unger dresses at Penelope’s, a consignment shop with a little more ritz than the area can take, but with amazing small sizes that would do you justice. Best of luck, Meredith

You’re so sweet! Yeah, next time I’m in Bloomington, I’ll look you up! So glad you’re finding your own style (and how to do it on the cheap!). It’s amazing what husbands will do to us. :)

i wasn’t gong to leave a comment here (just because I thought this was form August) but since I see some current activity and a few coincidences, i couldn’t help myself. i live in chicago but am from, like meredith, bloomington, il. i give old clothes for my mom to take to penelope’s (the thrift store) once in awhile.

adoring your blog so far…can’t wait to dig deeper and read more. only through first page so far.

Hi there – just a clarification because I used to work at Penelope’s – it is an upscale consignment shop for women. At times the owner works with out of town boutiques for last season blowout sales. I know because one of my best friends used to own the store. The thrift store I was referencing is associated with the hospital in town, BroMenn. However, if you are in Bloomington, you should stop in and check out Penelope’s great finds. I have the cashmere, the Betsey Johnson, Kay Unger, St. John and Stuart Weitzmanns to prove it! I think it is the only place to go in town for jeans because where else can you find 6 or 7 brands in your size? Love your blog!

Hi there! I recently stumbled upon your blog and I love your style! I’m curious – you’ve mentioned that you and your husband both work from home, but what is your profession?
I would love to design my life in a way that would offer me more freedom. If you have any advice about how to do that, or starting up a small business, I would love to hear it!
